This role plays a key part in supporting reinsurance accounting and reporting activities within a commercial insurance environment. You will work closely with underwriting, claims, actuarial, brokers, and reinsurers to ensure accurate administration of reinsurance contracts and timely processing of premiums and recoveries. The role also contributes to strengthening reporting, data quality, and control frameworks across reinsurance operations. Key Responsibilities • Review and maintain new and existing reinsurance arrangements to ensure accurate accounting and reporting. • Administer reinsurance contracts, including set-up and renewals within the reinsurance system while maintaining high data quality standards. • Ensure reinsurance premium payments are processed in accordance with contractual terms. • Track and collect reinsurance recoveries, including submission of collection notes to brokers and reinsurers. • Liaise with brokers and reinsurers regarding premium payments, claims recoveries, and settlement tracking. • Work closely with underwriting, claims, and actuarial teams to identify potential recoveries and ensure accurate booking in financial systems. • Ensure bordereaux are issued and settled in line with contractual obligations. • Monitor reinsurance balances and ensure movements are reported accurately on a quarterly basis. • Monitor and manage reinsurance receivables to minimise bad debt exposure. • Maintain alignment between local reporting and central reinsurance reporting frameworks. • Support the development and maintenance of controls, documentation, and reporting processes relating to reinsurance data quality. • Ensure accurate transfer of data between underwriting systems, reinsurance systems, and financial systems. • Act as a key point of contact for reinsurance accounting queries across the business. Core Skills and Experience • Prior experience within the insurance industry, specifically within reinsurance accounting or administration. • Strong understanding of different types of reinsurance arrangements and associated accounting practices. • Knowledge of reinsurance systems and processes; experience with reinsurance administration platforms is advantageous. • Experience working with financial accounting systems; ERP exposure is beneficial. • Strong Excel skills and ability to manage and analyse financial data. • Solid understanding of reinsurance terminology and operational processes. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. • High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability for delivering accurate work.
