Reporting into the Senior IFRS17 Manager, this role plays a key part in the production and delivery of quarterly and annual IFRS 17 results for internal and external reporting within a leading global insurance organisation. You will work closely with Finance, Actuarial, Data, and Group Reporting teams, taking ownership of reconciliation, data integrity, and technical accounting processes to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting. This role offers significant exposure to IFRS 17 reporting, financial systems, and cross-functional collaboration within a complex insurance environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Take a lead role in the production of quarterly IFRS 17 results, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Prepare and validate all relevant input data for ingestion into the IFRS 17 data platform and Moody’s Risk Integrity.
• Reconcile input data to UK GAAP for key metrics (e.g. premiums earned/paid, claims incurred/paid), investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Perform IFRS 17 data reconciliations within the quarterly reporting cycle and resolve reconciling differences.
• Perform balance sheet output reconciliations following system runs, including net asset walks (e.g. IFRS 4 to IFRS 17 transitions).
• Ensure data integrity across systems by identifying, investigating, and resolving data issues.
• Process input data through Moody’s Risk Integrity and perform initial analysis of unconsolidated results.
• Collaborate with Actuarial and Finance teams to review and challenge preliminary outputs.
• Support pre- and post-consolidation processes and Group reporting requirements.
• Contribute to the preparation of interim and annual financial statements, including IFRS 17 disclosures.
• Document reconciliation procedures and maintain robust audit trails within governance tools.
• Provide technical accounting input and operational support throughout the quarterly reporting cycle.
• Support external auditors in their review and audit of IFRS 17 results.
• Assist senior finance leadership with ad hoc projects, financial controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, legal, and financial reporting standards.
Core Skills and Experience
• Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent preferred) with 5+ years’ post-qualified experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of insurance accounting, including IFRS 17, IFRS 4, and UK GAAP.
• Proven experience supporting quarterly and annual financial reporting in an insurance environment.
• Demonstrated experience in data preparation, validation, reconciliation, and financial systems integration.
• Experience working with finance and actuarial systems such as Moody’s Risk Integrity, OneStream, Audit Board, or Prophix is advantageous.
• Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Power Query and PowerPivot beneficial.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to investigate and resolve complex accounting and data issues across multiple systems.
• Experience supporting external audits and maintaining strong financial controls.
• Effective prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience collaborating across Finance, Actuarial, Technology, and Data teams.
• Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working independently while supporting senior finance leadership.
