Reporting into the senior leadership team, this role plays a key part in building, scaling, and leading the finance function within a high-growth, PE-backed UK insurance business. You will combine hands-on delivery with strategic design to professionalise finance processes, embed robust controls, and support rapid premium growth, while developing a high-performing finance team. Key Responsibilities • Design and build a fit-for-scale finance operating model to support growth. • Establish clear reporting lines, controls, and governance frameworks across the finance function. • Oversee management accounts, statutory reporting, and financial accounting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Maintain strong financial controls and embed best-in-class governance practices. • Partner effectively with senior and executive stakeholders to support strategic decision-making. • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement. • Balance strategic planning with hands-on execution during periods of rapid business change. • Support the business in scaling operations, ensuring the finance function can sustain growth and complexity. Core Skills and Experience • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). • Proven experience as Financial Controller or equivalent within an insurance carrier, ideally FCA-regulated. • Strong technical finance, accounting, and financial control expertise. • Experience building, scaling, and leading finance teams in high-growth environments. • Confident operating at pace within a complex, evolving business. • Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, acting as a trusted finance leader.
