Reporting into the Commercial Finance Director, this role plays a key part in leading financial planning, forecasting, and performance management for a high-volume, margin-sensitive personal lines insurer. You will turn complex data into clear, actionable insight, supporting the Executive team to deliver against financial, commercial, and strategic objectives. The role also involves building and developing a high-performing FP&A function with robust processes, tools, and models. Key Responsibilities • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and multi-year planning, incorporating key value drivers such as policy volumes, retention, rate changes, inflation, and claims trends. • Track and analyse performance, focusing on trading actions, loss ratio, expense ratio, combined ratio, and underwriting result. • Evaluate trade-offs between growth, retention, and profitability to ensure alignment with long-term value creation objectives. • Act as a trusted finance partner to the CFO and CEO, delivering clear, forward-looking insights to the Executive team and Board. • Lead the business performance cadence through weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting cycles. • Ensure accuracy and consistency of data and KPIs used in forecasting and performance reporting across finance and operational functions. • Drive enhancements in FP&A models, dashboards, and automation to enable faster, data-driven decision-making. • Lead, mentor, and develop an FP&A team with strong commercial acumen, analytical capability, and business-partnering skills. • Foster a culture of accountability, insight, and continuous improvement. • Work closely with Investments & Capital teams to ensure consistency and accuracy across processes, reporting, and decision-making. Core Skills and Experience • Strong understanding of personal lines motor insurance economics and key value drivers. • Expertise in pricing, volume, and margin analytics with proven ability to influence senior leaders. • Advanced financial modelling, scenario analysis, and performance dashboard experience. • Ability to communicate complex data clearly to non-finance stakeholders. • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills. • 10+ years’ experience in FP&A or financial leadership, ideally within Personal Lines Motor insurance. • Professional qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent). • Experience supporting senior executives and Board-level reporting. • Proven track record of developing enterprise-wide FP&A models, forecasting tools, and high-performing FP&A teams.
