Edenbrook are recruiting a motivated finance professional to support the Syndicate Accounting Manager in maintaining accurate financial records for managed Lloyd’s Syndicates. This is a varied role combining oversight, reporting, and process improvement responsibilities within a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day Syndicate bookkeeping activities performed by junior staff, providing guidance and first-line review.
• Prepare quarterly trial balances and assist in compiling regulatory and internal financial reports, including VAT workings, Lloyd’s returns, and asset allocations.
• Review journals, reconciliations, investment valuations, and financial submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Contribute to internal reporting cycles, audit support, and the preparation of year-end financial statements.
• Assist in developing financial systems and automating reporting processes, including cash, investment, and underwriting data.
• Support senior finance staff in driving process improvements and maintaining strong internal controls.
• Act as a point of continuity by gaining a deep understanding of key roles and stepping in during absences.
• Provide leadership and development to junior team members.
Skills & Experience:
• Lloyd’s syndicate finance experience essential.
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (or qualified by experience).
• Strong Excel and accounting system (e.g., SUN) skills.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FCA, PRA, Lloyd’s).
• High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work independently.
