New opportunity as a Senior Underwriting Accountant in the Underwriting Accounting Team, whereby you will play a key role in producing and analysing underwriting information and management reporting to support the growth our business. You will also work closely with the Underwriting Accounting Manager and collaborate with other departments to provide accurate and insightful information at both the entity and group level. This role is integral to providing both actual, plan and forecast information and working with the Business Partnering and FP&A teams to provide the analysis behind this at an entity and Strategic Business unit level; as well as managing and mentoring two Underwriting Accountants. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities • Provision of regular reporting for all underwriting entities in said company, to a diverse list of stakeholders, including but not limited to Business Partners, FP&A, Group Accounting, Regulatory Accounting, Underwriting Ledgers, Outwards RI Operations and Actuarial. Reporting will be performed for Managed Lloyd’s Syndicates (both wholly aligned and 3rd Party Capital), Bermudian based reinsurer and, ILS vehicles • Reporting will cover UK GAAP Actuals, Forecasts, Plans and Quarterly SII reporting • Review work produced by wider team • To participate in, and have responsibility for, elements of the financial control’s framework, ensuring necessary reconciliations are performed on a regular basis and that exceptions are identified and addressed • Execute all financial controls in area within specified timeframes • To be instrumental in the maintenance, development, control and operation of the annual accounting model (AAM) working alongside the Underwriting Accounting Manager • Liaise with other departments to support the production, development and reconciliation of all relevant inputs that feed all the AAM processes • Deputise for the Underwriting Accounting Manager, including but not limited to: leading a number of Month End Reviews, SII result reviews • This role is expected to manage and mentor two Underwriting Accountants • Identify and implement automations and efficiency improvements in all the AAM inputs • Identify and implement improvements in our suite of analytics • Identify process improvement opportunities in the collation and presentation of Management Information • Support ad hoc requests for information on the performance of the key operating entities • Assist the wider Finance Function as required in tasks such as Payment’s approvals and knowledge sharing sessions To be successful in this role, you will need to be/have: • Qualified or part qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) preferable. • Educated to a good overall standard, with good overall pass grades in relevant subject. • London Insurance Market experience, specifically Lloyd's, with a minimum of two years’ experience. • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts surrounding insurance, including UK GAAP and SII • Solid understanding of an Underwriting P&L • Excel functionality to an advanced user level • Data analysis tools and techniques • Knowledge of PowerQuery and PowerBI is preferable but not essential • Beginner/Intermediate knowledge of MS SQL is preferable but not essential.
