This role supports the financial close function, responsible for delivering accurate underwriting and technical accounting results across premiums, claims, reinsurance and reserves. The position leads finance-related projects focused on improving systems, processes and data quality, and acts as a key finance contact for financial systems supporting the close process.
The role works closely with Finance, IT, and external vendors, contributing to wider technology transformation initiatives and ensuring robust controls across system-driven accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and support finance systems and process improvement initiatives
- Drive efficiencies in financial close and technical accounting processes

Act as finance owner for key financial systems supporting the close

Analyse and investigate technical accounting data to ensure accuracy of results
- Support reconciliations between source systems, actuarial data and the general ledger
- Coordinate system support during monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles
- Support system enhancements, upgrades and testing (including UAT)
- Maintain documentation for financial systems controls and processes
- Liaise with IT, vendors and auditors on system-related accounting matters
Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (or qualified by experience)
- Strong technical accounting experience, ideally within insurance or complex financial services
- Proven experience delivering projects, particularly systems or process change
- Strong understanding of financial systems, sub-ledgers and general ledgers
- Advanced data analysis skills (e.g. Excel; SQL/BI tools an advantage)
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, organised and able to work independently or within a small team
