We are currently working with a rapidly-growing Insurance company to recruit a Data Protection Specialist. Reporting into the Group Data Protection Officer, the successful candidate will monitor compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation and national data protection legislation, including putting in place measures which will reduce the likelihood or impact of any potential sanctions. Key responsibilities; • Oversee public-facing mailboxes, including responding to data subject requests, logging complaints, and escalating issues to relevant stakeholders and the GDPO as needed. • Act as a point of contact for colleagues to raise data protection concerns, prioritising requests and coordinating meetings for the GDPO. • Maintain and update the Register of Processing Activity (ROPA), incident and data breach registers, and records of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs). • Advise and support colleagues on the appropriate use, handling, and processing of personal data, including Legitimate Interest and consent management. • Ensure privacy policies, notices, and related documentation are kept current to reflect new activities. • Coordinate the creation and review of data flow processes and data mapping, including producing record schemas such as the Information Asset Register and Data Sharing Register. • Support colleague learning and training efforts, maintaining the data protection training register and assisting with inductions. • Assist the GDPO by producing meaningful management information (MI) on compliance procedures and supporting core data protection projects. The ideal candidate should have but not limited to; • Experience supporting data protection activities within regulated organisations or professional services. • Strong knowledge of UK data protection laws (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act) and best practices. • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and work independently to high standards across multiple projects. • Skilled in identifying compliance gaps, analysing issues, and providing pragmatic recommendations to improve practices.
