Role Summary: An opportunity exists for an underwriter to join a property insurance team focused on expanding into the middle market commercial property space (TIVs $50m–$1bn). This segment is seen as a key area for profitable growth. Initially, business will be written through the open market, delegated authorities, and facilities, with plans to introduce digital distribution via APIs for core risks. Key Responsibilities: • Underwrite, price, and negotiate risks submitted via traditional and digital channels • Build and manage broker, client, and producer relationships • Lead marketing and sales efforts to promote the company’s offerings • Contribute to underwriting strategy, portfolio optimisation, and business development • Review contract wordings and participate in planning and market research • Occasional travel to meet clients and brokers Ideal Candidate Profile: • Analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially minded • Comfortable with problem-solving under pressure • Strong communication and decision-making skills • Understanding of risk pricing and underwriting principles • Willingness to engage with catastrophe modelling and analytics • Progress towards (or commitment to) professional insurance qualifications (e.g., ACII) Preferred Qualifications: • Experience underwriting commercial property risks in the London Market • Degree-level education or strong relevant experience
