Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be part of the Finance team, supporting the delivery of accurate financial accounting, reporting, and compliance activities. This role will focus on ensuring the integrity of financial data, strengthening internal controls, and supporting key reporting cycles. You will work closely with teams across Finance and wider business functions, gaining exposure to end-to-end accounting processes and contributing to efficiency and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare, review, and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards (e.g., UK GAAP/FRS 102).
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and external reporting requirements.
• Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate results.
• Provide analysis and commentary on financial performance and key balance sheet metrics.
• Support external audit and tax compliance activities, ensuring completeness of financial documentation.
• Maintain and enhance financial controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
• Assist with corporation tax and VAT return preparation and coordinate with external advisors.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within accounting operations.
• Support system enhancements, financial reporting automation, and data integrity initiatives.
• Contribute to the mentoring and development of junior team members, promoting best practices across Finance.
The Ideal Candidate
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience in financial accounting and reporting.
• Strong understanding of UK GAAP/FRS 102 and familiarity with statutory reporting requirements.
• Analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across Finance and wider business teams.
• Skilled in Excel and financial systems, with experience in ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
• Highly organised and capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Commercially minded, adaptable, and focused on delivering high-quality outputs to tight timeframes.
