We are currently partnering with a Leading Specialty Insurance and MGA Group to recruit a Senior Finance Business Partner. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering strategic financial insight, supporting commercial decision-making, and driving operational and financial excellence across a growing portfolio of MGA businesses. This role requires a blend of technical accounting expertise, strong commercial acumen, leadership capability, and first-class stakeholder management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Act as the primary finance partner to senior business leaders across multiple MGA entities, supporting strategic planning and decision-making.
• Provide high-quality financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario modelling to inform commercial initiatives.
• Challenge assumptions and influence stakeholders to drive value, profitability, and operational efficiency.
• Support business cases, investment appraisals, and new product launches.
• Produce board-level analysis and insight to support governance and strategic initiatives.
• Deliver monthly financial updates, forecasts, and reforecasts.
• Lead and contribute to ad hoc strategic and operational projects.
• Lead the preparation and delivery of timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for MGA entities in line with group requirements.
• Ensure adherence to group accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory obligations.
• Prepare and submit regulatory returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Support the onboarding of newly acquired businesses and facilitate their integration into group finance processes.
• Act as the primary finance contact for audits and support statutory accounts preparation.
• Collaborate with group finance teams—including Financial Control, FP&A, and Reporting—to ensure consistent standards and governance.
• Identify and implement enhancements to financial processes, reporting quality, and operational efficiency.
• Support the rollout of new systems, tools, and transformation initiatives.
• Promote best practice and continuously improve financial governance and performance.
• Build collaborative relationships with senior leadership, operational teams, and group functions.
• Communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Influence and advise senior stakeholders to support aligned decision-making across the business.
• Lead and mentor a small finance team, promoting accountability, development, and high performance.
• Create a collaborative and inclusive team culture, fostering open communication and shared problem-solving.
• Support recruitment, development, and succession planning, ensuring capability growth across the team.
• Promote wellbeing, engagement, and a positive working environment aligned with organisational values.
The ideal candidate:
• A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant experience in finance business partnering within insurance, MGA, or broader financial services.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge with proven financial modelling capability.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience working with financial systems (Business Central, Xero, QuickBooks preferred) and advanced Excel proficiency.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within tight deadlines.
• Experience leading teams, either directly or through matrix structures.
