Underwriting Assistant London £20,000 - £25,000 An expanding MGA are seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the Specialty Treaty team and wider MGA in a technical and administrative capacity. Working in close accordance with Underwriters, Brokers and clients, this individual will gain broad exposure across multiple lines of business including Aviation, Marine and Energy, Construction, Satellite, Cyber, Personal Accident and Terrorism. A developmental position, the context of the role will include training and study in the form of an apprenticeship towards CII Professional Qualifications. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: • To provide administrative and technical support to the underwriting team. • To accurately record underwriting risk information and maintain all such records • Keeping up to date on technical and operational issues that impact the syndicate • Risk entry on Eclipse system and maintenance of records • Scanning of slip, endorsements and, where required, placing information • Validation of risk information – SCM and USM validation • Maintain accurate records of underwriting data, utilising various internal and external software systems • Clearing exceptions as and when they are notified • Reporting – Production of regular and ad hoc business reports • Underwriting - Liaise with brokers, colleagues, and external organisations to resolve day-to-day queries • To aid other classes of business within the Syndicate, as and when required, particular focus on the speciality account You will need to be able to display you have the following qualifications and experience: • A Levels or equivalent - Holder of a Degree in a business/numerical based subject is an advantage • Desire and willingness to commit to studying towards Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications via an apprenticeship training program • A good level of knowledge and interest in Insurance and the Lloyd’s London market is ideal but not essential • Good administrative skills, some experience in data entry and maintaining system records is advantageous • Intermediate level of knowledge of Microsoft Packages (Outlook / Word / Excel / PowerPoint) • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with both internal and external clients / brokers • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail • Good analytical and mathematical skills
