We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial close, reporting and financial control activities across a portfolio of legacy insurance entities. The role will own the general ledger and deliver management, statutory and regulatory reporting under FRS 102 and IFRS 17, while providing insightful analysis on run-off performance and the financial position of the entities. Key Responsibilities • Lead month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes across legacy insurance entities. • Own legal entity reporting, financial control, governance and general ledger activities. • Prepare and oversee statutory and regulatory reporting under FRS 102 and IFRS 17. • Analyse financial results, reserve movements and balance sheet trends, providing clear commentary to senior stakeholders. • Maintain robust financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations, audit evidence and governance processes. • Partner with Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Tax, Treasury, Group Finance and external auditors. • Lead, coach and develop a team of five, ensuring high standards of accuracy and continuous improvement. • Drive improvements to reporting processes, systems and controls, including supporting finance transformation initiatives. • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, Lloyd’s, GDPR and company requirements. Must Haves • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified accountant. • Significant experience within the UK insurance or reinsurance sector. • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly FRS 102 and IFRS 17. • Experience with legal entity reporting, financial control, statutory accounts and governance. • Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, audit and financial reporting processes. • Proven experience managing month-end, quarter-end and year-end close. • Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate financial insights to senior stakeholders. • Previous experience leading, coaching and developing a team. • Advanced Excel and finance systems skills. • Experience with regulatory reporting/Solvency II and legacy, run-off or discontinued insurance environments would be advantageous.
